Times Are Changing For Philippine Publishing Of MMORPGs

Same feathers flock together.  Out of many elements at play, we have the Service Provider (SP), the Cheaters, and the Legits.  Legits stand alone while the other two flock together.

The SP serves as the shameless road that generates revenue.  The Cheaters are invincible joyriding gypsies that dominate the road.  While Legits are immortal wayfarers, captives of the road as sacrificial offerings, consenting to be crushed time and time again.

The times are changing for Philippine publishing of MMORPGs. 2012 was said to be a huge victory, defined as conglomeration of SPs to form monopoly over the publishing of MMORPGs in the country.  Other small SPs were left to manage less popular and old titles for wandering Legits of the local market.

2013 is just a follow through of new perceptions in marketing.  It transcends from the best practices of product packaging to packaging consumers.  The SP and the titles have to dance with the prevailing type of consumers which are Cheaters.  Cheaters and game hack developers in turn are lead to easily identify themselves with the SP and how the titles are tolerated to be played.  Cheaters now owning the landslide represents the hopes, desires and aspirations of the consumers.  Thus, the best and employable talents then are those who can help the monopolizing SP to sustain and advance this new consumer-behavior based marketing strategy.

Cheaters will then continue to discuss new tools as hack developers device new tools that eventually change how titles are played.  These hack tools will continue to appear in the advertisement spaces of each community forum to convert more gamers to the Cheaters flank.

On the other hand, Legits with their captive minds may continue to talk about hopes and expectations.  They may amuse themselves reminiscing or comparing the golden past of a certain title.  That’s what they can do by far. It wouldn’t change anything at all.  Their preferred titles published outside the country will continue to be blocked by the monopolizing SP.  However, that deterrent alone will not prevent their exodus to better international game servers, for the world is getting smaller everyday.

Whining over cheating and various constructive insights concerning the extinction of the Legit type of local gamers had already been exhausted.  Any resurrection of that kind of propositions in a community forum is just a fading deja vu and a confirmation of the reja vu which hunts the minds of veteran persisting Legits.  Questions and concerns were ignored or already answered in the previous pages of the gamers community fora.

For those who are still wondering how, when, why and what could have been, let it be known that the times are changing in favor of the many against the few.  One just have to hum with a tune that sings Bob Dylan’s famous line – ” The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind.”
